Study Abroad Programs
(Middle and High Schools)

When Tokyo Jogakkan first opened, the school invited seven women teachers from England. Later teachers including Ms. Trott and Ms. Wyatt from England taught at TJK for many years and influenced the school and students positively. From the start there have been deep-rooted ties between TJK and England.

Queen Anne's School Queen Anne's School (QAS), one of England's "public" schools for young women located in the town of Reading, outside of London, agreed to host an exchange program. The education at QAS emphasizes character development, so from this perspective as well, it is a suitable school for TJK.

We made a program in partnership with QAS in 1998, which gives the chance for second year of TJK High School students to study at QAS for oneyear. Four students have studied through this program. The QAS provides the expenses for dormitory and TJK gives those students a scholarship.

Partnerships with three schools in the United Kingdom (Cheltenham Ladies' College, Downe House School, Queenswood School) and one school in the U. S. (St. Mary's Academy) have also been established. We are pleased to be able to offer our students more opportunities to study abroad and hope to expand through other parterships with more school.

We expect that by participating in this program, our students will gain a rich international sense and, in the future, they will be active on the world stage.
