Tokyo Jogakkan is one of the oldest private schools for girls
in Japan. It was founded in 1888 by a group of Japanese and non-Japanese leaders
in Japan to
help put Japanese women on equal footing with Western women. The International
Class is a renewal of that commitment to help women take their rightful place
amongst society's leaders, as elaborated in the school's "Mission
for the 21st Century." Our idea of leadership sees an effective leader
as someone who plays a cooperative role within a group.
Through our three pillars---communication ability, problem solving,
and intercultural understanding---we hope to cultivate women of character who,
with those skills and understandings, serve others and contribute to society.
